Our Ab Fab Benches
A couple of years ago when the old garden bench that we’d acquired with our property started to give out, I wanted something stylish, classical and long lasting.
I was delighted to come across the C&T Website and find that their teak is of the highest grade and the teak grown on the island of Java is sustainably sourced from the Indonesian government.
I like how they work with the government in Indonesia to ensure that they send the best quality teak back to Suffolk in England to make their range of teak furniture.
I love teak; it is a strong and attractive hard wood that lasts for ages, even if kept outdoors. I love how it just gets better and better with age as it weathers and just gains character.
I ordered two Lutyens 6 foot benches from C&T and they were delivered three days later. We have placed one at the other end of the swimming pool to the teak dining furniture and the other in a quiet spot in the garden where I like to read and enjoy nature.
The benches are very well constructed and solid.
They are exactly as expected and so comfortable to sit or lie on. Almost two years on, they are as good as new, only starting to get that lovely teak patina. I love my Lutyens benches. I love the style, the curves, I love the way the teak arms are rolled and the shape is a perfect headrest when lying on the bench. I love the stylish curves of the back.
The Sir Edwin Lutyens bench is a great testimony to his design and something that we can all have.
I appreciate the care and workmanship that has gone into the benches and I love the way that they feel and look timeless.

I am pleased to offer a few photos of our table and chairs and hope they are useful to you.
We have left the wood to age naturally and I was very pleased how quickly it took on the beautiful silver grey tone we were hoping for. We have covered it for the last couple of winters which have been quite severe , even in Hertfordshire, but before that it was left out in the elements and was fine.
It has had lots of use for family parties (three children, their partners and four grandchildren) and is standing up to it very well. The quality of the materials used and the high standard of workmanship are very evident.
The whole process of ordering, delivery and assembly in our garden was carried out smoothly and efficiently.

The benches have been a great success and I'm attaching a handful of photos. Hopefully they show how well the wood has seasoned. We have them in a variety of locations around the garden - some formal and some very rural - and they work equally well in each as they create a focal point when spotted from a distance.

The chairs were outside all winter through the Kentish snow and rain. We have not treated them at all this year. We are as pleased with them now as we were when they were new, last summer.
